Travel First Aid Kit – The Chronicles of Dr. Peaches & Miss Pickles

Travel First Aid Kit

It’s your worst travel nightmare- getting sick while on vacation. I always travel with a custom first aid kit. Here are some times to put in yours:

  1. Your prescription medications in their original bottles.
  2. Tylenol/Motrin/baby aspirin
  3. Benadryl
  4. antihistamine (i.e., Allegra, Claritin)
  5. anti-diarrheal (i.e., Lomotil)
  6. laxative
  7. antibiotic ointment (i.e., Neosporin)
  8. anti-itch cream (i.e., Caladryl)
  9. bug repellant
  10. sunscreen
  11. aloe vera
  12. seasickness/motion sickness preparation
  13. assorted bandages

I have provided brand names of medications for purposes of familiarity. However, I always buy generic versions of these medications when possible. Also, buy smaller packaging for space-saving.

Lastly, be sure to ask your healthcare provider for any medications that are only available by prescription. Nausea medications come to mind.

By being prepared, you can avoid trying to buy these items (often at higher cost) when you travel. These items usually have a longer shelf life, so don’t worry if you don’t use them for this trip…there’s always next time!

This is a great idea. I need to start keeping a small first aid kit in the car too.

Fortunately, I never got sick on my travels so far, so I never really thought of packing a first aid kit. However, I now consider it as I might need it someday though. This was a very helpful post, thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Love this idea! I get horribly motion sick anytime we take a trip… but I always forget to pack my Dramamine. And it’s so expensive when you have to pick some up at the airport or in the little packs that the gas stations sell! I should totally make a little tote to throw in my bag whenever we travel… thanks for the tips!

Wow, you’re very prepared! I bought a pre-made first aid kit from the store and just restock as things run out. Thanks for sharing what you put in yours!
