Happy New Year!
Yes, I know. Our New Year is already almost 2 months old. This year, I decided to ease into my new year’s “resolutions” and all that…
I am always inspired by the beginning of a new year. Taking a deep breath and feeling the new year. The new year invigorates me to try something new, take chances, and grow through experiences. Here are my tips for making 2019 my best year yet!
1. Rest When You Need To.
I spent New Year’s Day being a complete couch potato. I snacked and napped. All. Day. Long. After the hustle and bustle of the holidays and wrapping up the end of the year, I guess I was tired, and my body needed the rest.
2. Just Say No.
When we entered the new school year, I just said “no” to all of it. Previously, in the course of a school year, I had been: class Mom, library volunteer, book fair volunteer, Girl Scout Troop leader, and did organizational volunteering.
Oh, did I mention that I work full time?
Yeah. Busy.
And I really enjoyed it all, but by May 2018, I just needed a break for a minute.
3. Be Intentional.
I’ve heard of this with money, but I’m going to do this with my time… my ME time. Every month it’s my goal to do something just for me. Something that requires me to slow down, something that’s good for my health, and so on…
In January, it’s a spa treatment. I’m so overdue for a massage and I found some deals on Travelzoo for local spa experiences. ( I’ll share those with you soon!)
Also on the agenda; doctor’s visits, dentist appointment, and mammogram. Gotta get these on the books asap.
Write it Down!!!!
A dream without a plan is just a wish.
Take a pause and write it down! I’ve lost so many ideas, because I thought I’d remember. I’m sure you’ll be surprised to know that all those “brilliant” ideas are just gone…
WRITE IT DOWN.
WRITE IT DOWN SOMEWHERE YOU CAN ACCESS IT LATER.
4. Plan An Adventure.
I’m a planner by nature. I don’t know what I enjoy more, planning the trips or actually taking them! Last year, Miss Pickles and I had an epic adventure to Barcelona, Marrakech, and Madrid. This year, I’m flying solo on an adventure of my own! To commemorate my 2019 adventure, I got new luggage for the trip! (Ok, for real, my current bag is beat nearly to pieces, but that sounds as boring as it really is…)
5. Get Organized.
I think this is a common “resolution” but I’m on a mission for 2019.
A. Organize your time
Get a great planner. I love the Erin Condren planners! I love that my EC planner has both monthly and weekly views for keeping up with the big picture as well as the small details with ease.
Also available here!
B. Organize your space.
I’m in the process of remodeling my closet (insert groan here- if you’ve ever remodeled anything, you know my pain). In the past, I wanted a closet that simultaneously accommodated my summer and winter clothes, but all that did was helped me to accumulate!
OMG!!!!
There was so much stuff! Years of different sizes and styles. (Lord, some of the stuff I wore!) Going to a more structured closet set up not only forced me to purge, but I will also have to swap out seasonally, which will (hopefully) help me to declutter on a regular basis.
I’m particularly excited about these shoe organizers!
Life will be easier!
Tell me…
How are you getting it together in 2019?
